BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN MARCH HAS BEGUN
The first men’s in league game was played last night and the women start in league on January 3
(Springfield, MA – November 29, 2012)— Last night in a thrilling first in league conference basketball game, the Iona College Gaels won (83-72) against the Niagara Purple Eagles in New Rochelle NY. The first women’s in league game will be played on Thursday, Jan. 3 with the Manhattan College Jaspers vs. the Saint Peters Peacocks in Jersey City NJ.
It takes 99 games to determine the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Basketball Champion in both the Men’s and Women’s leagues. Once the conference games begin, each of the 10 teams plays each other team twice for a total of 90 games. There are 9 tournament games played during the March championships to be held for the second year in a row at the MassMutual Center in Springfield MA, resulting in a total of 99 games being played.
